The Real Housewives of Potomac

The Real Housewives of Potomac (RHHOP for short) is an American reality TV series that premiered on Bravo on January 17, 2016. Developed as the eighth installment of the Real Housewives franchise, it airs five seasons and focuses on the personal and professional lives of several women living in Potomac, Maryland.

The current cast consists of Gisele Bryant, Ashley Darby, Robin Dixon, Karen Huger, Candace Dillard, Wendy Ossefo and Mia Thorton. Previously noted cast members include original cast members Chas Jackson Jordan and Katie Lost. And later add Monique Samuels.

Initially titled Potomac Ensemble, The Real Housewives of Potomac was announced on November 11, 2015. This series is in Washington, D. It is the network’s second attempt to develop a reality series based in region C. The first effort was The Real Housewives of D-Star, which aired in 2010 and .C after one season.

The first season premiered on January 17, 2016 and starred Gisele Bryant, Katie Lost, Karen Huger, Chassel Jackson Jordan, Robin Dixon and Ashley Darby. Lost was fired from the show after filming for the second season began. Monique Samuels was added to the cast of the second season, which premiered on April 2, 2017.

The third season premiered on April 1, 2018, with Candace Dillard joining the cast and Jordan appearing in “Friend” capacity. Jordan left the show after the third season.

The fourth season, which began filming in August 2018, premiered on May 5, 2019. The season featured Dillard’s wedding and Lost as “housewife friends.” It was also marked as Lost’s last appearance on the show after he was not invited to the reunion for the fourth season.

The fifth season premiered on August 2, 2020, with Wendy Essefo the latest cast member. Jackson Jordan and Samuels’ pet bird T’Challa appeared as guests. The season also featured physical changes between Samuels and Dillard at the winery. In December 2020, Samuels announced his withdrawal from the series.

On April 18, 2021, Bravo released a teaser for Potomac’s Real Housewives Season 6, which premieres in summer 2021.

Ratings

According to Nielsen Media Research’s “Live Plus 3” estimates, the premiere episode of The Real Housewives of potomac received a rating of 1.2 with an adult demographic of 18-49 adults and a total of 2.54 million viewers. The episode was the highest-rated premiere of a series in the Real Housewives franchise. The first season of the series averaged 2.1 million viewers with “Live plus 3” estimates, and it was the network’s most-watched first season since The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in 2010.

Important responses

The reality series has received mostly positive reviews from TV critics. Amy Amatangelo, writing for The Hollywood Reporter, said, “Like its predecessors, the Real Housewives of potomac offers escapism TV at the highest level,” adding, “You can watch with the comfort of never behaving this way and please all the ridiculous shenanigans.” Amatangelo praised the show’s diversity, saying the network aims to make the franchise an “equal opportunity offender.” ABC News’ Joy Marie McKenzie reflected on the show’s premiere, writing, “During the show’s introduction, there were plenty of shade-throwing and one-liners to keep “housewife” lovers entertained.”

The Real Housewives of Dallas was announced on November 15, 2015 as the ninth installment of the Real Housewives franchise. The first season premiered on April 11, 2016 and starred Carrie Dewber, Tiffany Hendra, Stephanie Holman, Leanne Rocker and Brandi Redmond, with Marie Reyes appearing repeatedly. After the first season, Hendra left the show. The second season, which premiered on August 14, 2017, featured Hendra in guest capacity, with Dandra Simmons and Cameron Westcott joining the cast.

The third season premiered on August 15, 2018, with a cast from the previous season. The fourth season premiered on September 4, 2019. Dewbar was demoted in the ability of “friends”. Carrie Brittingham is the main cast and Hendra is a guest. Rocken left the series after the fourth season. The fifth season, which premiered on January 5, 2021, will feature a new cast, Tiffany Moon, and Jennifer Davis Long as a housewife friend.

Real Housewives Of Potomac Renewed For Season 2 & Looking For New Cast Members

WaPo.com:

With a two-week on-air break, you’d think that the ladies of “Real Housewives of Potomac” (which returns to Bravo on March 6) would have a brief rumor mill breather. Not likely.

Turns out there’s good news and bad news for the housewives crew. Despite the surprising absence of drama (or, at the very least, believable conflict), the show is most likely on its way to a second season, according to sources close to the production. Take that, D.C.! The Potomac edition premiered with the highest ratings in the franchise, with 2.54 million viewers overall.

Here’s the bad: Bravo is looking to add some fresh faces to the mix of area women starring on the show. Calls have been made and names have been thrown into the ring. Whether these potential new stars will replace or simply augment the current cast — Karen Huger, Ashley Darby, Charrisse Jackson Jordan, Katie Rost, Robyn Dixon and Gizelle Bryant — remains to be seen. Bravo usually likes to keep the casting under a tight lid.

But the network has a track record of bumping “boring” housewives. Remember DeShawn Snow of Atlanta’s first season? Or Kimberly Bryant of Orange County? Or half the cast of the first season of Miami?

With just five episodes under its belt, “Potomac” already has clear breakouts. Gizelle Bryant is a fan favorite — think Atlanta’s NeNe Leakes without all the yelling (so far). The show’s youngest member, wild wife Darby (and her much older Aussie husband Michael), is another. And polite society police chief Huger is nothing if not entertaining.
